Hi, I’m Annie Hutchison and I’m so glad you’re here.
In 2019 I was healed from bipolar disorder. I believe that my healing was the result of God rebuilding my mind and restoring it piece by piece for a decade before I finally woke up one morning and needed my psychiatrist to help me wean off my meds because my body no longer needed them. This healing started my passion of writing about mental health struggles within the Christian context. I write as someone still learning, still healing, and still leaning hard on Jesus. Much of what I share begins as encouragement I need to hear myself—words I wish I could have whispered to the younger me who loved God but was weighed down by trauma, mental illness, and broken attempts at building healthy relationships.
Before my complete healing in 2019, I battled with my mental illness for over 20 years. There were long seasons of deep hopelessness and multiple suicide attempts -seasons that didn’t just hurt me, but also wounded the people who loved me. And yet, by God’s grace, I’m here today restored and passionate about writing about the heavy, painful, and often unspoken areas of the Christian’s life with mental illness and trauma. I want you to know that your struggles are real, and not the result of a “lack of faith.”
No matter how dark life feels today, or how long the seasons of suffering last, I believe His light is still ahead of us. You and I are not beyond God’s reach. Our stories are not over. His grace writes new beginnings for weary hearts.
